Jude examines the reality of false teaching within the church and how believers should contend for truth. Through Old Testament precedents including the unbelieving Israelites, rebellious angels, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, we see God's consistent judgment against unbelief, rebellion against authority, and sexual immorality. In the verses to follow we see that God's grace is not a license to sin but is transforming power, and that truth is objective, not subjective. The cure for false teaching is submission to Jesus Christ as the ultimate authority and faithful adherence to Scripture as the measuring stick for truth.
