What is Jesus Undoing in Your Life?

We have been making our way through the book of James three verses at a time.  Currently, we find ourselves in chapter four. Here are a couple of verses to contemplate (6-8):

And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

Verse 6 is a quote from the book of Proverbs 3:31-34:

Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly. The Lord curses the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright. The Lord mocks the mockers but is gracious to the humble.

Whether you are reading in the Old Testament or the New - there is a powerful theme that runs throughout. Today we have a chance to humble ourselves, or we can be humbled by God. The choice is ours to make.

As we begin part three of our teaching series this Sunday, we will continue to explore the things in our lives that Jesus would undo. I am confident that one thing Jesus is actively undoing in our life right now is pride, our self-exaltation, and our lack of humility.

As we head into the weekend, join me in finding ways to serve others, in pursuing closeness to God, and in helping others grow in their faith.

One last thing: We are partnering with Farmers to Families again this weekend from 9-11 am in our parking lot. If you are struggling to put food on the table, or you know someone who is, please experience or share this great opportunity.

I hope you will save a seat and join us for a great weekend gathering!
